INTRODUCTION

The wind howled through the trees as I sat alone, staring at the worn pages of my journal. If you have picked up this book, perhaps you are searching—searching for meaning, searching for answers, or simply searching for a quiet voice in the storm. I understand that feeling because I have been there too. This book is more than words on a page; it is a love letter from both my heart and the Abba Father's heart to the world.

I would like to thank my two sons, Jean Pierre and Kurt, for their wonderful love for me. Life was not easy many years ago, but God is still restoring today, and I am grateful for His hand over my sons, family, and extended family. I do not just have two sons, I have an extended family as well, of which you will all know who you are by name. You have all given me a reason to write this book. For many, you are a son or a daughter, or a brother or a sister to me. I recognise you for what you have done in my life. No matter how small or how great. Thank you for walking this road with me, even if we do not see one another often, we remain family. God has a plan for our nation, and it is all about you and me continually enlarging our territory like Jabez.

This book is a reminder of His love for us.

Jabez called out to the God of Israel, saying, 'Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my territory!' (1 Chronicles 4:10). In the same way, when we welcome new family members into our lives, we contribute to the change so desperately needed in South Africa. A revived nation begins when we truly see one another as family—when we love as God has called us to. The enemy, the deceiver, seeks to steal our joy and love by sowing doubt in our minds. But when we stand united, embracing each other with love, we reclaim the blessings that God desires for us."

There was a time when I thought my journey would never be worth telling. The weight of past mistakes and the relentless obstacles seemed impossible to overcome. But God had other plans. He whispered to me in moments of despair, in the quiet hours of the night, and through the people He placed in my path. His voice was steady even when mine trembled.

Each of us asks God similar questions—questions I will explore in the pages ahead. "Why, God? Why did this happen? Why did I have to walk through this valley?" These were the echoes in my heart as I wrestled with challenges beyond my understanding. And yet, through it all, I came to realize a truth that changed everything: God’s ways are not ours.

Many times, I tried to help Jesus by telling Him what to do, how He should fix things, and why He should act quickly. I thought I knew best. But as the years unfolded, I saw how often we place the blame on God instead of recognizing the real enemy—satan, the destroyer. How often do we mistake God’s silence for absence, when in truth, He is working behind the scenes in ways we cannot yet see?

Perhaps you are facing struggles of your own—sitting in silence, wrestling with the same questions, wondering why God has not yet answered you. If so, let me tell you this: You are not alone. There were moments when I believed no one else could understand my pain, only to discover that others carried burdens even heavier than mine. In hearing their stories, my struggles seemed smaller, not because they disappeared, but because I realized that we all need God every single day.

My purpose in writing this book is to share my heart with you, not just in words, but in the hope that it will stir something deep within your soul. Whether you have walked with God all your life or have doubted His presence, my prayer is that these pages draw you closer to Him, the One who created you for a purpose greater than you may yet understand.
